The potential benefits of carbon finance have not reached many developing countries. The World Bank’s carbon finance products help grow the market by linking the private sector buyers of carbon credits with climate-friendly projects in developing countries and economies in transition that are seeking financing. The World Bank’s carbon finance products include:

Development of a CDM and JI Validation and Verification Manual

The International Emissions Trading Association and the World Bank Carbon Finance Unit / Prototype Carbon Fund (PCF) have started a process to develop a CDM and JI Validation and Verification Manual. The VVM will be a guidance document that describes the process of validation and verification activities. The VVM will be "owned" and used by DOEs (and other project participants). The final draft of the VVM is expected to be ready by COP9, after a thorough review, participation and feedback process. More information is available on the PCF/IETA VVM website at: http://www.VVManual.info
