Washington DC, July 15, 2003--Poor communities in developing countries will benefit from the groundbreaking Community Development Carbon Fund (CDCF) which became operational today. The World Bank which developed the CDCF in collaboration with the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat and the International Emissions Trading Association, announced commitments of US35M from both public and private sector participants, as part of a US100M package. |

The agreements were signed at the 10th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the Kyoto Protocol (COP10) being held in Buenos Aires this week. |

The PCF was announced publicly at press events in various locations -- the Hague and Stockholm on January 18 and in Tokyo and Oslo on January 19th.
